Good evening.
A calmer view of what you've invested, what it's earned, and where it could go.
Growth over time
Compare a short-term projection with your recorded results
The orange dashed line projects 3 months ahead using the Forecast view’s annual return and monthly contributions. As you enter both Brokerage and Roth IRA month-end balances, actual totals appear for comparison. Earlier history is illustrative; use real entries for a meaningful accuracy check.

How this is calculated
Quick guide to the dashboard
Investment gain / loss
Investment value − estimated net principal.
Gain percentage
Estimated gain or loss ÷ estimated net principal.
Investment value
Latest Brokerage balance + latest Roth IRA balance. Savings is excluded.
Principal and returns are only as accurate as the underlying records. Transfers between accounts must not be double-counted.
Growth by account
See how each balance changes month by month
Each line uses the latest entry recorded for that account in each month. Placeholder history is illustrative; replace it with actual month-end balances for a meaningful growth comparison.
Pure growth by account
Estimated return after subtracting recorded net contributions
Formula: (latest balance − estimated net principal) ÷ estimated net principal. This isolates estimated gains/losses from contributions, but it is not an annualized or time-weighted investment return. Placeholder history and incomplete cash-flow records can distort the result.
Where could you go?

Forecast assumptions
Monthly contributions and returns
Historical mode estimates monthly growth from consecutive recorded balances, adjusting for recorded deposits and withdrawals. Placeholder or sparse history can make this estimate unreliable.
At the selected return and contribution assumptions.
Year-by-year projection
Fixed-return scenario with monthly contributions
| Year | Brokerage | Roth IRA | Combined |

Formula: future value = current balance × (1 + monthly rate)^months + monthly contribution × [((1 + monthly rate)^months − 1) ÷ monthly rate]. Assumes contributions at month-end and a constant monthly rate. For a 0% return, value equals starting balance plus contributions.

Formula guide
Plain-English definitions of the main calculations in this website.
Investment value
Brokerage balance + Roth IRA balanceSavings is tracked separately and does not count toward invested assets in this dashboard.
Estimated gain / loss
Investment value − estimated net principalThe result is approximate if the starting principal or historical deposits and withdrawals are incomplete.
Gain percentage
Estimated gain / loss ÷ estimated net principal × 100This is a simple gain-to-principal ratio, not a time-weighted or money-weighted return.
Monthly forecast rate
(1 + annual return)^(1/12) − 1Converts an effective annual return into an equivalent monthly rate.
Future value with monthly deposits
Starting balance × (1+r)^n + contribution × (((1+r)^n − 1) ÷ r)Here r is the monthly rate and n is the number of months. The formula assumes fixed monthly contributions at month-end and a constant return.
Historical-return estimate
Annualized estimate = (1 + average recorded monthly return)^12 − 1Use caution: sparse monthly data, transfers, and cash flows can distort the estimate. Actual returns vary, and historical performance does not predict future results.
